Privacy policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains how the Save Oakleys Farm campaign ("we", "us") handles your personal data when you sign the petition, endorse as a business, or contact the council through this site. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what we need.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the Save Oakleys Farm campaign, run on behalf of Oakleys Farm, Little Blakeley Lane, Dilhorne, ST10 2PT. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
What we collect
When you sign the petition: your first and last name, email address, the first part of your postcode (the "outward" code, e.g. ST10), and an optional comment.
When a business endorses: the business name, town, business type, an optional quote and website, and the contact's name, optional role and email.
For all submissions we also store a one-way hashed version of your IP address (never the raw address) and a timestamp, to prevent abuse and duplicate entries.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
- Consent. You give your consent when you sign or endorse and then confirm via the link we email you. Your signature is not counted until you confirm.
- Legitimate interests. Running and protecting the campaign, verifying that signatures are genuine, and presenting the results to decision-makers.
What is shown publicly
On the public site we only ever display your first name and outward postcode, and your comment, and only if you ticked the box to show it. We never display your email address or full postcode. Business endorsements are public by nature: the business name, town, type, quote and website may be shown.
We use Resend, a third-party email provider, to send confirmation emails and campaign updates on our behalf. Your email address is shared with them only for the purpose of delivering these emails. We never sell, rent or share your details with anyone for marketing.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people use the site. This sets cookies and collects standard analytics data. The site also stores a small amount of information in your browser to remember which comments you have liked. We do not use advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as the campaign is active. After the campaign concludes, or sooner on request, we delete personal data that is no longer needed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, or erase your data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict processing. The quickest way to remove your details is the Remove me from the register page. For anything else, email us at the address above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
We may update this policy. The "last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
